Do you ever feel like decisions are made at City Hall without considering the people who actually do the work?
It’s frustrating when policies are passed that impact our jobs, our safety, and our community, seemingly without our input.
We are changing that.
At our last General Membership Meeting, you spoke, and we listened. A motion was brought forward and passed by the membership to create a dedicated body for engaging directly with City Council.
In response to that directive, we are launching the Municipal Policy & Advocacy Committee (MPAC).
What is MPAC?
This isn’t a social club. It is a strategic task force mandated by the membership to:
- Build Relationships: Directly engage with City Councilors to ensure they understand our issues.
- Gather Intel: Monitor upcoming Council decisions so we are never caught off guard.
- Advocate: Present real, data-driven solutions to Council on issues like staffing, safety, and contracting out.
Why Join?
If you are someone who is interested local politics, cares about policy, or just wants to ensure our Union is a player in the decisions that shape Prince George, this is for you.
You will gain:
- Insight: Be the first to know what’s coming down the pipe from City Hall.
- Influence: Help shape the messaging and strategy of your Union.
- Skills: Learn how to advocate effectively and navigate municipal politics.
The Commitment
We will meet once a month starting in January of 2026. We are looking for members who are ready to be professional, strategic, and solution-oriented. Members are also encouraged to attend City Council Meetings, but are not required to attend.
Are you ready to stop reacting to decisions and start influencing them?
